Kollur is a small temple town located in the Udupi district of Karnataka. It is famous for the temples and other places of interest. I had the pleasure of visiting this place recently for an event programme being held here. There are many ways to reach Kollur from Bhopal. I chose to travel by air for this journey as many flights are available. The nearest airport from Kollur is Mangalore International Airport.

 There are many travel portals which are useful in booking flights for domestic travel. I used one of them offering good discounts and deals and booked economy class tickets with Air India. I liked the in-flight services and facilities of the airlines provided to the passengers. The entertainment system of Air India is also perfect. They have a god collection of movies, music and TV shows for the passengers. The free meal pack was also handy for the flight. My flight reached Mangalore airport on time and after that I took a cab to reach the hotel in Kollur.

Stay at a 3 Star Hotel

There are many good Kollur Mookambika hotels available for the tourists from all parts of the country. I prefer to stay in a decent 2 star hotel. Hence I booked the rooms at the Beena residency in Kollur. The hotel is a well maintained property in the town and offers wide range of facilities and services for the guests.

I had booked one of the double AC rooms of the hotel. The room had all the basic and required amenities. There was an air conditioner, television, safe, refrigerator and a private attached bathroom. The hotel also has a good in-house restaurant and a cafe serving some good food and beverages.

The Iconic Places in Kollur

There are many amazing hotspots in the town which I visited while staying in Kollur. One of the places I visited was the Saraswati Mantap, located inside the famous Kollur Mookambika. It hosts the famous Vidyarambam and other dance festivals. There are many singers, dancers and other performing artists there who want to get the blessings of the goddess. It was a great divine experience to visit the place.

Arishina Gundi falls is another famous place located nearby which is a beautiful waterfalls. There is a trekking to do before you can reach here. One of the iconic and natural beauty site of Kollur is the Kodachadri peak. It is declared as natural heritage site by Government Karnataka and it is 10th highest peak of Karnataka. The visit to these places in Kollur made my stay very memorable and I decided to travel this place again in future.
